2007 Schedule Posted

My tentative 2007 schedule is posted on the schedule page. It’s a really good mix of 21 Tarheel Tour events and 10 Nationwide Tour qualifiers. If you add the US Open qualifier and Q-School, the schedule is a minimum of 33 events which is just slightly on the heavy side. However, there are more Nationwide Tour qualifiers and fewer mini tour events than my typical schedule, so the load shouldn’t seem as heavy. As I said above, it’s tentative, so things can change. I could easily see me dropping one or two Tarheel Tour events to give myself a break somewhere during the season.

The exciting aspect of the schedule is the number of Nationwide Tour qualifiers. I’m really going to focus on these this year and give myself a chance to play my way onto this tour. The way the qualifiers fit into the Tarheel Tour schedule is encouraging. Only twice during the year do I have a Tarheel Tour event that immediately follows a Nationwide Tour qualifier. Both of the Tarheel Tour events are at courses that I’ve already played and the drives are both under 4 hours. Though not ideal, it would be manageable for me to drive straight to the Tarheel Tour event and tee it up the next day without a practice round. Ideally I won’t have to deal with this situation because I would have qualified for the Nationwide Tour event!

So, it looks like the season kicks off with several Tarheel Tour events in a row starting in late February. I’m excited now that I have something on paper to gear up for.

Back at Work

After a 16 day post-Q-School layoff, I started back into some light practice today. This is the off-season, so I don’t expect to be out there for 6 hours at a time yet. But, it did feel good to get in some swings again. I expect sometime in early January to get back to practicing a bit more seriously with an eye on starting the season in late February. I’ve been back in the gym for my off-season workouts for about a week now. The workouts feel absolutely great.
