New Schedule

I’ve posted a new schedule for the second half of the year. It places heavy emphasis on getting through Nationwide and PGA Tour monday qualifiers. I’m playing 17 of these. I’m also playing the US Open qualifiers as well as a few events in Iowa. Yes, I said Iowa. There are actually 3 events over 17 days that are all close to each other and have good purses relative to the entry fees. I’ve also got a few friends from Phoenix who are going, so it will be somewhat of a reunion. The three events are the Quad City Open (I don’t think there’s a relation to the old Quad Cities/John Deere), the Waterloo Open and the Greater Cedar Rapids Open.

Back at the I

Today was my first round back with the pardsies at International CC. The place was soaking wet after 2 inches of rain the previous day. The rough was long, the greens were punched and the wind was blowing pretty hard and gusting. I carded a 65 in these conditions. It was a good test of the progress I’ve made lately because I remember how I played the course before I made the recent changes. I’m definitely doing everything better throughout the bag and feel more comfortable over all types of shots. It’s been really easy to regroup now that I’m back in Virginia. All the stresses of the last several weeks are rapidly melting away. Even though I feel great about my golf and am excited about the rest of the season, I’m going to force myself to take some time off. I’m going to make sure I am completely focused on the remainder of the season. James Driscoll, a former University of Virginia golfer (played a couple years after me) almost took home the PGA Tour event today. He had a shot to win it outright on the 72nd hole, but didn’t make the 5 footer. It looked like he hit a good putt but misread it a little. He lost on the first playoff hole, but it was still a great performance by James!
